Welcome to The Strathmore Care Group. Strathmore Care was established in July 1985 and has provided quality care to older people in Essex for over 20 years. The partnership expanded to include four homes all in the Southend/Westcliff on Sea areas catering to the needs of the elderly. The four homes within the Group includes Whittingham House which has undergone extensive construction to convert it into a purpose built, comfortable residential setting for service users with dementia.

All Homes are situated within a 2 - mile radius of the town centre of Southend on Sea with its busy seafront esplanade and shopping centre. There are excellent transport links via the A127 and A13 with Southend Victoria and Westcliff on Sea mainline railway stations within close proximity.

The latest acquisition to the group is Beckney Wood House a proposed Care Village in the Hockley area of Essex.

Our Services

The Strathmore Care group exists to provide quality 24 hour Care to its residents on the basis of their needs, cultural, social and religious beliefs. Recognising each resident as an individual in his or her own right and the needs of others significant to the resident such as members of family and friends.

The care of the elderly is founded on the principle of holistic care with respect to the dignity and rights of the individual. Our Managers are fully qualified and all staff are stringently vetted and receive a fully comprehensive training programme going on to achieve NVQ qualifications.

We offer a varied nutritional menu, catering for individual needs such as diabetes, food intolerance and soft diets. Each resident is offered a choice of foods at all meal times. All meals consist of traditional British cuisine, well cooked and attractively presented.

A comprehensive housekeeping and laundry service is provided (except dry cleaning). We have regular visits from a hairdresser and we also use the services of other outside agencies such as Chiropodist, Optician, GP’s and District Nurses.

All leisure activities are co-ordinated within the group, and are organised according to the physical abilities and the well being of residents. In house activities include bingo, handicrafts, musical entertainment and trips out amongst others. Each Home is equipped with a Home Computer with E-mail and Internet access to help residents to keep in touch.

Parties are organised for birthdays/anniversaries, Christmas and other special occasions. In the summer, garden parties and barbeques are arranged. Relatives are invited to participate in all social events. Visiting is welcomed and encouraged and there are no restrictions on visiting times unless otherwise indicated.
